A Marquee Signing for United The forward, with half a year remaining on her deal, has been a prolific goalscorer for her club and the national team. Having netted over 100 goals for Bayern and found the net 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. This signing will be seen as a major coup for the Women’s Super League side. Departure from Bayern has been anticipated after she appeared to be fighting back tears while thanking the club's fans following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently. It was reported in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its leading strikers. Per reports, all the paperwork for the transfer have now been completed. Consistent Goal Threat to Boost United's Attack The experienced striker's signing should represent a significant boost to United’s forward line. Schüller has been remarkably consistent with her finishing in Germany’s top flight. For seven straight seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-digit tally of league goals. She won the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals. Building Steam at Old Trafford Securing the German international coincides with a period when United seem to be building positive momentum. Their recent performances feature qualifying for the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals. In the transfer market, the mid-season window has brought additional business: The signing of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal. The new deal for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since arriving in 2023. On Miyazawa’s new deal, a senior figure stated: “Miyazawa is now a critical part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability allows her and the team to control and dictate play from the middle of the park.” The new defender, having arrived from a side from the American league, said: “You can sense how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the Champions League.”
